Preschool!

Jon started preschool this week, and he was EXCITED! His only request was to take fruit snacks with his snack. (Which he packed himself, a week early)
His class only has 4 kiddos in it, which means it may get cancelled (they have to have 5 to keep it open, and someone dropped out last minute). Right now, we love the student/teacher ratio, but we're really hoping someone else joins soon!
Here's some First Day photos of my goofy guy:

1st Party

Kai had his birthday party yesterday. He surprised us by digging right in and ripping open a present before instructed (he's really good at ripping things up). He got some cool books, a cute t shirt, cars, and snacks. What more could a guy ask for?
Cake was a Pinky and The Brain themed globe. He was especially happy about the peanut butter M&Ms inside. A great mess was made, but I missed the final picture because we forgot to buckle him into the high chair and he started trying to climb onto the table! (Novice mistake. Doh!)
Oh well. It was a mess. It was awesome. He was happy. That's what counts!

Catch up

Science museum with Uncle Mike, the lawn got mowed for the first time in two months, Kai and Jon helped prep a birthday cake, and a bunch of random Jon photos. Enjoy!

Birthday Boy!

Kai survived a whole year! (Remarkably, his parents did too!)
He's still our bitty-boy: not quite 20 pounds and 28.5 inches tall.
His favorites: Curious George, peanut butter M&Ms, books (especially touch and feel books), drawing, and playing in water.
He's super mischevious, which delights his brothers (most of the time). He's generally quite happy, unless he's working on teeth (he's got 12 at the moment). We love him!
Happy birthday Kai-Kai!

Firsts

Isaac had his first day of first grade this week! He was nervous and excited all at once and had mood swings like crazy, but I'm pretty sure he likes his new class. A lot of his best friends are there with him, and his new teacher seems great.
He requested a Pokemon backpack and pencil box, so we did a little art project together. I think they came out pretty well. He loves them.
Here's hoping for another awesome school year!

The new car

After almost 3 years as a one car family, it became necessary to add another vehicle to our collection. We decided it was time to buy something fancy, so we went with a decked out Lexus. A 14 year old decked out Lexus. It has a tape deck and a sun roof. It still drives awesomely, I'm told (it's Mark's car, so I haven't really driven it yet). The boys think it's the best car they've ever seen.
The important part is that it will make juggling Mark's job, his position as PTA treasurer, his calling as Assistant Ward Mission Leader, Isaac's school, the various errands of a stay-at-home mom, and my calling as Relief Society 2nd Counselor slightly easier. (I got tired and stressed just typing all that.)

This Summer

Is pretty much over. I'm a little bummed - there was more I wanted to do with the boys, but we had too much going on.

Things with the Allreds here were busy! Five boys in one house makes it more if a nuclear reactor. They enjoyed playing in the backyard a lot though (for my sanity, as much as their enjoyment).

We did the library summer reading program, and Jon has been picking up some sight words. Isaac still reads quite well, but he didn't want to read as much while he was on break. I signed up for the adult program, but only made it through four of my six books (Tears of the Giraffe, Divergent, Sunday Philosophy Club, and It's All Too Much - in case you were wondering). I love doing the program just because we do a better job tracking how often we read. It makes me feel accomplished.

We bought a new washer and dryer, which have been put to good use! We also managed to buy a second car (which will have its own post once I get some pictures). I'm hoping that's it for big purchases for a while!

Here's more of what we were up to:
Mommy School
Cooking/making giant messes
Playing at the nature center
Making blanket forts
Perfecting gluten free play dough recipes
Going to the science museum
Picnics in the van

Even if we didn't get to everything I wanted to, we've had a full, fun summer! (I'll get around to formatting this post later... Got a pan of brownies and 4 guys ready for chocolate!)

I do what I want

(Read the box - it's from our new washer and dryer, which I love)
